The Best of Future Music Festival 2012 - Skirllex, Swedish House Mafia, Friendly Fires, Knife Party, Flux Pavillion

Future was on Saturday and it was heavy. Man there was a lot of people, the crowd for Skrillex was especially crazy. I have to say though the whole layout of the festival, especially the main stage, was utter crap, but hey, once your in and past all the niggle of getting where you want, you have fun.

There were some massive acts, and some huge clashes. Lucky though that most at the top of the list were away from the main stage which made it overall a really enjoyable experience as you could get as close as you wanted. Some people paid the price of having such a small inner front area separated by such a small securtity gap. I saw heaps fence jumpers, and groups storming security successfully. This all culminating in seeing a female security carried out unconscious.

Skrillex, from what i could see stuck on the side, was pretty good. Friendly Fires were EPIC! and the crowd was barely full. The highlight here was Ed Macfarlane jumping into the crowd and running around for a whole song singing with the crowd, that and his dancing which is always classic.

Knife Party and Porter Robinson were the final acts of the day and both did a solid job of ripping the ear drums to pieces, in a good way. Both were very heavy and had some awesome tunes. Zedd's remix of Breaking a Sweat by Skrillex was on heavy repeat and watching a 19 year old absolutely kill it while having Pendulum behind you gapsing at everything you do really makes you think what you did with your early years.

Overall an awesome day and night, i have compiled a couple of the tunes i remember from the festival to give you a taste, bring on next year.

Swedish House Mafia - GREYHOUND

Knife Party - Internet Friends (VIP - Mix Rip)

Benny Bennassi - Cinema (Skrillex Remix) by Skrillex

Friendly Fires - Live Those Days Tonight by UMPG

Sway - Level Up (FAKE BLOOD Mix)

Fake Blood has been one of my favourite artists for a while now, however there has been constant frustration by the lack of releases he has been doing. About three years ago he came out with a bunch of bangers. But of recent he has been sticking to the remixes and releasing them sporadically.

So i was amped to hear that, while its not a Fake Blood original, that he had remixed Sway's tune Level up. Check out the tune, it is sick with Fake Blood solid brooding basslines, fidgety filters and the heavy sampling on the vocals. Hopefully more is to come soon.

SBTRKT - Surely (2012?)

To say the last month has been busy would be an understatement. With work going gangbusters and music festivals a plenty the blog has been in a bit of a lull state for the last few weeks. But we are back on and will have plenty of new tunes, mixes and news coming your way.

Starting with my favourite, and now seems to be everyone's new favourite, SBTRKT, who recently released this tasty wee number through his Soundcloud. Explanation says it was a bonus track, so assuming it never got on an album but i could be wrong.

The tune has his trademark soothing basslines, with exquisite drum work. Seriously if you get to see his live show you will see how awesome this guy is on the drums, while controlling most of the other sounds going on.

The tune is called Surely, no word yet on any releases or anything of the sort.
