Holy Live Acts! Travis vs A-Trak

So it seems all the rage at the moment, not satisfied at being plugged as straight up and down producer/DJ's artists are now experimenting with a whole landscape of live act scenarios to add to their resumes.

The latest to come my attention is the culmination of old school pop/punk and turntabilist Hip Hop, with a Tenties twist. A -Trak, known by many as the child prodigy DMC champion, now turned hip hop/electro megastar, has team up with ex Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker to create a new take on A-Trak's show.

Also check out the Bloody Beetroots live show having teamed with their Death Crew 77, all donning spidey masks, who you can catch at this years Creamfields tour. Check out videos of these two live acts below.

Sao Paolo's finest: Database

Lucio Morais and Yuri Chix of Database are childhood friends, who in 2005 discovered their passion for music and mixing. As is common in uni towns they gradually grew a bit of a cult following progressing to the dance floors of São Paulo’s legendary, now-extinct club, “AmpGalaxy.”

In 2007, the two friends decided to create something new—a dance-ey new live act with original beats. They called it “Database” and debuted at the Caravana da Coragem.

After a couple of albums and numerous remixes Database has become one of the biggest electronic names in Brazil, and the word is spreading. These guys are becoming a hit on the blogs, spreading their unique sound across the globe. Expect big things from these guys in the future.

Future Music Festival Recap

So I went Future Music festival in Sydney in the weekend, two words to describe it "holy people". One of the more surprising acts of the day for me was David Guetta, I wasn't at all a very big fan before going, but his stage presence and crowd pull was nothing like I had seen before. He played a 1hr set with the crowd knowing the words to every track, which he used to his advantage by letting them scream at full pitch when turning it down. He also chucked in a couple of cheeky edits like 'I'm David guetta Bitch" cut up from the Miami track.

So I thought I'd share tracks of his that he did with Kid Cudi. The Barletta remix is more up beat and grunty.

The second track that I'm throffing on at the moment is the new one from Crookers and Steed Lord- Transilvania- my Italian brothers need no introduction but steedlord are a 4 piece elctro/pop/rap group from Iceland. What drew my attention to them about three years ago was the graphic design that they incorperate into thier covers and EP"s check their myspace! Also the lead singer Is an absolute babe- these guys and girl are ones to watch, they have thier own record label, own clothing brand and are simply COOL. Introducing SteedLord

Underworld Announced as Headliners of We Love Sounds Australia

The British Electronica group Underworld have been announced today as the headliners of the already stellar line up that is We Love Sounds Australia. These guys have been around for ages, recording together since before most of you were born, 1980.

Currently made up of the duo Karl Hyde and Rick Smith these guys have released an staggering 7 studio albums and a load of remixes to go with it. The last time i saw these guys you could hardly fit a single person extra into the Boiler Room at BDO Auckland and they went off.

Check Out a couple of their big tunes, Born Slippy Nuxx which was made famous by the movie Trainspotting.
