Official Coachella Line Up Released today

The Naked and Famous (NZ) - NME Bands for 2011

One of the many surprises for me that came from a pretty stellar Rhythm and Vines line up was the group The Naked and Famous. This indie rock group hailing from our own land of the long white cloud have only been making tunes together for a couple of years but are already taking the world by storm.

Bursting onto the scene with their single Young Blood last year, a tune bearing similarities to the older style of recent blow outs MGMT, they have moved on quickly from their ARIA silver scroll win last year to the UK's BBC and NME's Bands of 2011 lists. Check out the interview above from NME.com. These guys had an epic gig at Rhythm and Vines on the main stage, whipping the crowd into a frenzy. I only caught the end of them and am pretty guttered to miss the rest now.

These are touring with the Big Day Out throughout January around NZ and Australia before heading back over to the UK. So make sure you check them out.

Kayne West and Jay Z to release joint album

In news that is sure to wet the lips of hip hop lovers the world over, it has been announced that Kanye West and Jay Z will record a joint album which is to be named "Watch the Throne". The album is already in the works with recording already happening and five tracks laid down.

Kayne has come out of hiding recently after the infamous Taylor Swift incident sent him AWOL to Japan. Kanye West's new album, 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy', is out on November 22.

Daft Punk perform live with Phoenix -First time in three years - Watch the Video

I think i just soiled myself, Daft Punk came out of hibernation last night for the first time in three years. Daft Punk surprised the crowd at Madison Square gardens by joining the French indie group Phoenix on stage to perform their encore. A very lucky treat indeed. Hopefully this means they will be back soon with a world tour. Check out the Daft Punk and Phoenix live video above.

New Zealand Shapeshifter - The System is a Remix (2010)

A little behind on this as NZ DnB news only trickles across the ditch from time to time but in a big move for Shapeshifter, Hospital Records have picked them up for a special edition EP showcasing a few of their greatest songs remixed by the cream of the Hospital crop. This is an album not to be scoffed at and means big things for Shapeshifter on the world stage. This is none more apparent than the change of name to New Zealand Shapeshifter, no doubt to differentiate the NZ DnB group from the UK mega house superstars Shapeshifters.

I have yet to see this album available in local online stores but the release has some banger remixes, my favourites being from Logistics and Hospital's new poster boy Netsky, who is performing at Rhythm and Vines this year! This festival will be huge so make sure you tick that box this summer. If you need a taster of this guys genius check out his feature on the Shapeshiter release The System is a Remix.
